While the interfold paper towel seems like a pretty modern invention, paper towels themselves have been around for a long time. In 1907, the Scott Paper Company (a leading toilet paper manufacturer in the US), had a problem. A huge batch of their toilet paper was wrapped into rolls that were so thick, they couldn’t be used to wipe bottoms. Not wanting to lose money, Mr Scott remembered an article talking about soft paper tissues that were given to students with colds (instead of the typical cotton hankies). Scott set about creating the first ever towel sized sheets of paper, and we now know these today as ‘Paper Towels’.
